Make Your LinkedIn About Section Work for You
Let's talk about your LinkedIn About section
It's not as important as your headline, but it tells your story (or the story you want someone to know).
And there's no "right" formula to use. You decide how you want to present yourself.
When writing your About section, consider who your ideal reader is and what they want to know about your background, skills, experience, etc. And don't be afraid to let your personality shine through.
Some people interject personal stories. Others use a sense of humor. You want your About section to be uniquely yours.
If you need ideas or inspiration, let ChatGPT get you started. (Always edit as necessary.) And a super important reminder: The better your instructions, the better the results.
1️⃣ Use a prompt like:
"Acting as a career coach, write a LinkedIn About section using the following work history. It should be under 250 words. And provide 3 different versions. [paste work history from resume]."
2️⃣ Or if you found an About section you really like and want to use it as a guide, try this prompt:
"Acting as a professional LinkedIn profile writer, create 3 versions of an About section (under 250 words) to position me for a [job title] position in [industry/field]. My About section should accurately reflect my skills, experience, and qualifications. I will include my resume below. Plus use the sample About section for inspiration only. [paste resume] [paste About section sample]"
Have you tried using ChatGPT to generate ideas or get inspired?
I posted a version of this on LinkedIn this week.
